Architecture for me asks questions about the ways in which we want to live, the environment we want to inhabit and the challenges posed in trying to design beautiful and practical solutions to the opportunities presented. Architects need to respond to changing physical and political climates as well as technological advances whilst anticipating the impact and consequences of those changes. Reaction to these intellectual demands should frame the basis for effective design.

I am driven by the ideas behind a process and I greatly enjoy breaking this down into it’s component parts and looking at the issues individually. The initial research that starts any project presents challenges that I find particularly engaging. Throughout my career to date the idea of specific site observations and historical, industrial and social research results are key to me in being able to create a design that responds directly to its surrounding environment.
