Studio Egret West appointed by West Northamptonshire Council

The former bus station at Greyfriars occupies a prominent spot in the heart of Northampton Town Centre, which has stood vacant for many years. We’re pleased to have reached a major milestone in transforming this large brownfield site by appointing industry experts Studio Egret West (SEW) to develop a long-term vision for the area which will meet the needs of our communities. “We’re delighted that SEW will bring decades of expertise and knowledge to this project. They have been instrumental in leading the sustainable regeneration of areas across the country such as Mayfield in Manchester and Preston Barracks in Brighton. We look forward to working in partnership with them to create an innovative vision for the site, and engaging with our communities through public consultation.”

We were immediately struck by the opportunity at Greyfriars to deliver a truly atypical vision that is both perception-shifting and pragmatic. In order to be successful this site needs a highly collaborative approach that reaches beyond the red line. We look forward to engaging with local partners such as the University of Northampton to build an inspiring juxtaposition of uses, infused with the industrious spirit of Northampton. We believe in growing places organically and intend to set out tangible interventions that can transform this part of town from day one.”
