Plus X Brighton, part of our masterplan for Preston Barracks, has topped out. Due to open in early 2020, our designs for the new technology and co-working hub comprise inspiring workspace, studios, prototype labs, media facilities, event space and a roof terrace, all designed to support positive, productive business growth, collaboration and innovation.

Beyond targeting BREAAM ‘excellent’, Plus X Brighton will be WELL certified to Platinum Status, promoting a physical environment that supports health and wellbeing. It will also meet a Wired Score ‘Platinum’ level, which ensures the building is delivered with a tenant-friendly, robust and resilient digital infrastructure.

Preston Barracks is a joint venture between the University of Brighton, Brighton Council and U+I Group. Studio Egret West’s role includes an overarching masterplan and coordination role for the entire planning application; and masterplanner, architect and landscape architect in relation to the Preston Barracks site. The £200m development involves the transformation of a Georgian army barracks (Preston Barracks) and two adjacent University of Brighton Car Park sites into a rejuvenated university campus and new mixed-use neighbourhood, including University of Brighton academic facilities, 1300 student beds, 360 residential dwellings and Plus X Brighton.
