We’re proud to see Studio Egret West’s Duncan Paybody featured alongside fellow city-makers helping to reshape Manchester’s relationship with water. As Director of Landscape at SEW, Duncan discusses the role of Mayfield Park - Manchester city centre’s first new public park in over 100 years - and how landscape-led design can create places that are both beautiful and resilient.

At Mayfield, the River Medlock has been brought back into the heart of the city, with the park designed to function as a natural floodplain while creating new habitats, public spaces and connections to nature. The project demonstrates how regeneration, biodiversity and climate adaptation can work hand in hand.

Watch the film to discover how collaboration across landscapes, communities and infrastructure is helping Manchester adapt to a wetter future.
