Louisa Davidson
Senior Landscape Architect
As a senior Landscape Architect with over two decades of experience, my career has been defined by a deep-rooted appreciation for nature and the storytelling of historic nuances in place making. After studying Landscape Design at Sheffield University, I began my practical experience in several design studios across the northwest before moving to London in 2011.
Following my professional Chartership in 2013 I worked for the esteemed landscape designer and historian Todd Longstaffe-Gowan (TLG). His approach to both conservation and design is eclectic and playful, yet deeply responsive to historical context, this has greatly shaped and influenced my own style. My involvement on projects in the studio at TLG have included various large estates and town gardens, such as the award-winning Garden House with Gianni Botsford Architects, roof terraces such as 4 Pancras Square with Eric Parry Architects, Heritage Lottery Funded public spaces and prestigious historic projects for clients such as the Historic Royal Palaces and The Crown Estate. This has broadened my experience working with nurseries, craftsmen, blacksmiths and landscape contractors to deliver landscapes of the highest quality.
Outside of the studio, I spend a lot of my free time exploring historic gardens and landscapes with my young family. Seeing how my children respond to these spaces serves as a constant reminder that landscapes enriched by their history and culture are meant to be shared and explored. This has inspired me to move beyond the exclusivity often associated with gardens and horticulture; I am passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for all to engage with and find inspiration from the natural world.
