Model Maker

The combination of the two disciplines of model making and fine art provides a unique understanding of thought and process towards making.”

I studied Design Model Making at the Kent Institute of Art and Design. Following graduation, I have specialised as an Architectural model maker, gaining over twenty years of experience of working in both model making studios, and in-house within architectural practices.

In addition to my professional background as a model maker, I have also gained a BA Hons in Fine Art, and an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art. I regularly exhibit artworks in group shows, in London and internationally. The combination of the two disciplines of model making and fine art provides a unique understanding of thought and process towards making.

The models we make at Studio Egret West range from concept models and sketch models, through to competition submission models and display models. During each stage of the design process, the models we make are used to explore and resolve the problems and challenges of any given project. Each model is therefore a physical expression of thought; making as a form of thinking. The models are as much a part of the design process as they are representations of a design. Made concurrently to the development of the design, the model represents a feedback loop of thought expressed through the language of making.
