Ella Oakley

Studio Assistant

Each day brings forth a fresh set of challenges! ”

I oversee the daily operations of the studio and ensure everything runs smoothly. My responsibilities range from supporting the Directors and HR Manager with managing calendars, and coordinating various administrative tasks – to serving as the studio DJ. My colleagues describe me as the ‘glue’ that keeps everything together!

I coordinate all the studio's events, exhibitions, travel bookings, and our annual overseas Studio Trip – our 2025 trip to Copenhagen was a personal favourite. My role is multi-dimensional, and I take pride in being a versatile member of the team. I ensure our studio is organised and conducive to creative work and inspiration. Additionally, I source and book all the studio’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions and Lunch+Learn events.

My background includes a BA in Fine Art and a Master’s in Arts and Project Management, which have shaped my career in exhibition spaces and creative organisations. These skills are proving highly adaptable as I explore the architecture industry.

SEW has an infectious energy, and I’m thoroughly enjoying the chance to learn about architecture, landscape, and urban design while collaborating with like-minded creatives. As part of the SEW Social Steering Group, I help foster a vibrant studio culture by organising various activities for colleagues to connect through sports, music, food, and other engaging events.

Beyond the studio, I pursue my artistic passions by regularly visiting local and international art galleries and exhibitions. I love knitting, reworking clothes, and thrifting.
