Studio Egret West are delighted to be leading one of the ten teams longlisted for Thamesmead Waterfront, a two stage competition for Peabody and Lendlease that seeks a ‘visionary and strategic’ masterplanner to work with the housing association and its joint venture partner on the enormous 100ha scheme. The opportunity is one of the few remaining undeveloped waterfront sites in London and the South East that offers the scale and capacity to accommodate significant, sustainable, long-term economic growth and housing, particularly in a post COVID-19 world.
In recognition of the aspirational and challenging brief, we have assembled a team of talented collaborators to blend both international and local capabilities and experiences. Working 50/50 with Studio Egret West as lead designer are fellow urban designers, architects and landscape architects COBE, a Danish practice very much at the forefront of Copenhagen’s evolution as one of the most sustainable cities in the world. We are also joined by the AJ 40 under 40 winners Je Ahn's Studio Weave and Jonathan Hagos’ Freehaus Design, with Dulwich Pavilion-designer Yinka Ilori Studio.
Our team of designers are further supported by Dark Matter Labs, AKT II, Hilson Moran, and Biomatrix Water.
The competition - organised by Colander Associates - received over 70 submissions from across the world. The longlisted teams will now participate in interviews with the joint venture partners, who will select five finalists to proceed to the second stage.
