The proposals for Phase 1 of RAD London at the Royal Albert Docks in East London have been launched, the beginnings of a major transformative development turning 21 buildings of unused office and retail space into an educational campus with high-quality, affordable student accommodation, active public space and areas for cafes and local amenities.

SEW is the landscape architect for Phase 1 of the development (working alongside DMBA as Phase 1 architect). We are also the masterplanner for the wider site, charged with evolving RAD from monocultural offices to an exciting multicultural mixed use environment.

In addition, SEW has designed the identity and brand guidelines for RAD London and, working in collaboration with Rabbithole, has created a new website, rad.london. Part of the historic Royal Albert Dock, this spot was once the bustling heart of London’s sea trade, a playground of ‘firsts.’ From cutting-edge railways to ice-cold storage, it embodied innovation.

Regenerative, Audacious and Disruptive, RAD London invites a new generation to this place to thrive, mirroring its past with bold moves and daring decisions that propel the development to the forefront of innovation.
