Part II Architectural Assistant

I believe architects have the ability to encourage social cohesion through a regenerative approach, breaking down metaphorical and physical barriers in the built environment and within our profession.”

From growing up in Malawi and Botswana, I have a keen interest in bioclimatic & socially responsive design. Since moving to the UK in my early teens, I have been intrigued by the difference of the built and natural environments of my childhood, compared to my adulthood in London. This has driven me to prioritise creating socio-environmentally sustainable spaces.

I believe architects have the ability to encourage social cohesion through a regenerative approach, breaking down metaphorical and physical barriers in the built environment and within our profession. I am an advocate for conversations around how designers can continue to push for diversity, equality and representation within practice.

My interest in humanitarianism has led to numerous community centred projects. This has included working with a local charity organisation to document, archive and promote the modern histories of immigrant communities in Sheffield. I also write research papers evaluating the social and environmental impacts of aid projects to local communities in Malawi and other contexts.

Outside of architecture, I pursue my passion as a craftsperson, from creating jewellery, to lino printing and painting. But above all, I express my creativity in the kitchen!
