Design has a role in sparking joy into everyday life.”

Fuelled by Yorkshire Tea and motivated by the dynamic interaction of design disciplines at Studio Egret West, I love having the opportunity to bridge my graphic and interior design interests to build on my know-how.

During my Interior Design degree at Falmouth University, I had the privilege of spending a semester studying abroad in Singapore. Here, I realised the delight of individuality and difference - something which is embraced with open arms in the studio.

Humour is central to my design ethos. I believe that design has a role in sparking joy into everyday life. But how can we bring this joy to fundamentally challenging issues? This is something which I explored in my final university project where I endeavoured to tackle childhood obesity with the concept of a ‘Run Thru’ McDonald’s.

Outside the studio, I nurture my creativity in the form of music. This breathing space, when my mind is most distant from the task at hand, is so often the time that I am most creative and when I find many of my design problems are solved. In the words of Maya Angelou: “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
