The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has resolved to grant planning permission for its part of the masterplan. Following last month’s approval by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, this completes the resolution to grant planning across the entire 44-acre site.

The result of more than five years of careful, committed work by an extraordinarily engaged client and a deeply collaborative team. As 50/50 Masterplanners alongside Hawkins\Brown, and Landscape alongside SLA, Studio Egret West has worked to shape a long-term vision for Earls Court that is ambitious, resilient and rooted in place. A project of national significance, the site, once home to the Exhibition Centres, is set to re-emerge as a distinctive London neighbourhood that supports innovation, culture and everyday life.

Over the coming two decades, the masterplan provides a framework for 7.5 million sq ft of development, including around 4,000 new homes, three cultural venues, and 2.5 million sq ft of workspace focused on climate innovation. Set within 20 acres of public realm and green space, the proposals seek to create an inclusive and generous piece of city, reconnecting Earls Court to its surroundings and establishing a place designed to endure.

Here’s to Earls Court - and to the next chapter.
