Studio Egret West was shortlisted in the Florenc21: Phase West international competition organised by the City of Prague, Municipal Councils of Prague 8 and Prague 1 and Penta Real Estate.

The competition focuses on one of Prague’s most significant brownfield sites, with Studio Egret West competing for Plot B01, one of four key plots in the city centre. A total of 25 teams were selected from 278 entries representing 33 countries across Europe, America, and Asia.

Our submission drew upon the city’s rich geological and cultural identity, reinterpreting the traditional Prague orchard as a productive, vertical landscape. Two sculpted office buildings, Florenc East and West, rise as terraced hills, weaving nature into the urban fabric to enhance biodiversity and provide a holistic, verdant work environment.

Our design features a structural exoskeleton of locally sourced limestone and granite that provides a sustainable, low-carbon alternative to concrete frame. Stepped massing creates lush, multi-use roof terraces for urban agriculture and networking, while at street level, the Wilsonova flyover undercroft is reimagined as a flexible civic forum for markets and performances.

Built for long-term resilience, buildings are imagined to function as a future "urban quarry" through a design optimized for disassembly. By combining high-performance ESG principles with a kinetic facade rhythm, the Florenc Forum establishes a distinct visual identity that responds to both the classical pace of Desfours Palace and the high-speed energy of the adjacent highway.
